Alice lee is a luxury women's wear label specialising in knitwear, designed by Alice Smith and Lee Farmer.
Alice studied textiles at Chelsea school of Art, then went on to specialise in knitwear on the MA Fashion course at Central St Martins under the late Louise Wilson.
Lee honed his skills through directly working in the industry, designing for independent labels and styling artists and bands.
Alice and lee joined forces working together creating showpieces for Giles for 6 seasons.
The designers also created one off couture pieces for Hardy Amies Couture before starting their own label Alice Lee.
The label was chosen as part of Selfridge’s ‘Bright Young Things’ where the designers curated their own window display at Selfridge’s and sold their collection in store.
The designers have an artisanal approach, with a keen eye for detail and finishing, creating beautifully handcrafted pieces with a strong focus on knit and surface fabrication.
Combining traditional handcrafts with original fabric development, informing the shape and silhouette of the pieces.
The use of varying materials such as leather and sourced vintage needlepoint tapestries, combined with their knitted fabrics is key to the design process.
Sustainability is important to the designers through the use of recycled fabrics, found embellishments, small runs and bespoke hand made pieces.
